If you’re like millions of other users, you’re likely using Excel to its fullest potential. But if you ever need to work with someone else’s spreadsheet. It may be useful to know the ins and outs of how the Excel file format is set up.

Here are three quick tips to keep in mind.

1. Use Named Ranges

Excel file formats can be tricky to work with if you don’t know some basic tips and tricks. One tip that can be helpful is to use named ranges in your formulas. This can make your formulas much simpler to read and understand.

To create a named range, select the cells that you want to include in the range. And then click the “Name” button on the top toolbar. This will open the “Create Names” dialog box. In the “Refers to” field, enter the formula that you want to use for the named range.

For example, let’s say you have a column of data in cells A1:A10. You could name this range “Data”. Then, in any formula that references this range. You could use the name “Data” instead of the cell references. This can make your formulas much easier to read and understand.

Conditional formatting is a bit more complex, but it’s still easy to use. Select the data you want to format and then click the conditional formatting option in the ribbon. From there, you can choose from a variety of options to format your data.

3. Use the View Options to Customize

Excel has many ways that you can view your data. The most common way is to use the “normal” view, which displays all the data in your worksheet in a grid. But, you can also use the “page break” view to see how your data will print on a page.
