The Feral Druid Tank can be very effective in the right hands.
There are a lot of options for you to take when it comes to class in World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade. If you find yourself looking for a new challenge, then the Feral Druid Tank is a potential choice that could benefit you. This does depend on what your objective is going towards the endgame of WoW TBC. Whether you’re looking to earn riches with TBC Classic gold, or want to blitz through TBC power leveling, there’s a case to be made with different classes. But what does the Feral Druid Tank bring to the table?
The Pros
When you are comparing the scaling of bear threat against other classes of tank, the dominance of the bear tank shines right through. They have ways of multiplying the damage that they inflict with both Swipe and Mangle (Bear), as well as Maul to a lesser extent. The TPS that you can scale is really high when you have the right gear, and will be very beneficial to you in terms of DPS as well.
You should also be aware of the fact that Feral Druids are considered to be the only hybrid spec that’s available in The Burning Crusade, and no amount of WoW TBC gold can change such facts. They are able to play a couple of alternative roles in both DPS and tank, both of which are efficient in their own right. This is a luxury that you won’t find with any other classes in the game. The reason for this limitation for other classes when compared against the Feral Druid is because of the talent trees being designed in such a way that both roles can’t be operated simultaneously elsewhere.
In general, they are capable of providing a lot of flexibility to your raid group, meaning that you can be utilised in more ways than one. Their ability to hold their own when it comes to DPS helps them to stand out in boss fights too.
There is also some useful TBC items for you to consider. Since you are playing as a combination of roles, you’ll find that with this class you can take advantage of being able to get the best leather for tanking. Improve you DPS gear with the likes of Hard Khorium Band and Shadowmaster’s Boots, where you with be able to really thrive when in boss fights. With the right gear, you will be pivotal to the success of your party.
The Cons
There are some legitimate downsides to playing as the Feral Druid. Perhaps the main drawback of the class is that it doesn’t have the defensive cooldowns that you would normally find elsewhere. Usually, if you’re in a situation where you are using gear that isn’t sufficient, you would be reliant on defensive cooldowns. This would give you the opportunity to figure out the rhythm of a boss fight whilst being able to survive at the same time. It is a period in which you would be vulnerable to unnecessary damage and even death.
This isn’t to say that the Druid doesn’t have any defensive cooldowns at all. They do have Frenzied Regeneration and Barkskin, but neither are of which use, with the latter only being effective under certain circumstances.
Another disadvantage is the AoE tanking, or lack of, with the Feral Druid Tank. When you’re playing through raids and dungeons, you’ll notice that there is likely to be trash packs in higher numbers that you would normally dispense of with AoE attacks. In this instance, you would then need the tank to be able to have the mob being controlled by Threat. This is where the problems for this tank start. The bear lacks the multi-target abilities needed to be effective here, with only Demoralizing Roar and Swipe being of any use.
As such, Feral Tanks don’t tend to be of much use controlling many mobs. If you do want to be able to bypass such issues without having to buy WoW TBC gold or anything, then you could focus on Bash and Growl. This can help control several mobs, but you will need to get through high skill caps to achieve this successfully.
Tasks like finding TBC Classic gold or working thorough The Burning Crusade power leveling can be difficult to work through. As can the likes of dungeons and raids, so it’s important that you are playing as a class that you enjoy. As you can see, the Feral Druid Tank does have its perks, but it may be limited in other area. It falls to you as the player to decide whether this class is capable to fitting to your style of play or not.
